Take a closer look at protecting AI-related innovation

On May 28, 2019,  an expert panel discussion on the protection of AI-related technical innovation was held at the appliedAI Inititiative of the Center for Entrepreneurship (UnternehmerTUM GmbH). 

The panelists were Yannis Skoulikaris (EPO, Director Operations, Sector Information and Communications Technology, The Hague), George Summerfield (K&L Gates, Partner, Chicago), Michael Schramm (2S-IP, Founding partner, Munich), and Björn Geigle (Computomics, Bioinformatics Scientist, Tübingen).

Now, the moderator, Benjamin Fechner, reviewed the discussion and takes a closer look key questions related to protecting AI-related innovation: What instruments of protection are available for AI-related innovation? Is AI patentable? How does the EPO examine patent applications related to AI? Who is inventor of an inventions generated by AI?
